Ajo ka një thellësi të eksploruar deri në 200 metra. Temperatura e ujit është rreth 9 gradë gjatë gjithë vitit. Niveli i ujit ka një sezonalitet të theksuar, në verë rrjedhja e ujit ndalet. Zhytja është e mundur nga marsi deri në qershor.
