On April 15, 1941, the Royal Italian Navy cargo ship Stampalia was in Ducat Bay, south of Vlora Bay, near the present-day Pashaliman naval base. In the evening, five British aircraft from Swordfish Squadron, based at Paramiti, Greece, conducted an attack in Vlora Bay. The first attack failed, but the second was successful. During which the ship was sunk.
