The Open Water Sessions in the Referral Diver SSI course typically involve practical, hands-on diving experiences in an open water environment. The Referral Diver course is designed for individuals who have completed the academic and confined water training portions of their scuba diving certification with one SSI instructor and are looking to finish their open water training with a different SSI instructor at a different location.
During the Open Water Sessions, divers apply the knowledge and skills they've learned in the classroom and confined water settings to real-world diving situations. This phase of the course allows participants to demonstrate their mastery of essential scuba diving skills in open water conditions, which could include a lake, quarry, or ocean environment.
Under the guidance of the SSI instructor, Referral Diver candidates typically perform various skills and exercises to ensure they can navigate, control buoyancy, communicate, and handle different underwater scenarios safely. The Open Water Sessions provide an opportunity for divers to gain practical experience and build confidence in a real diving environment, setting the stage for them to become certified Open Water Divers upon successful completion of the entire course.
